As always, Snow King Resort ramped it and threw a great party on Sunday, the last day of their 08/09 ski season. Despite cool temperatures and rain mixed with light snow, locals rallied for the final day of another snow-filled year with some beer, music and classic pond skimming fun sans wetsuits. The Bluegrass Band played while people clad in retro one-piece ski suits, bikinis nearly nothing at all skied off the ramp and across (or into) the pond in front of a cheering crowd.
But don’t bid Snow King adieu just yet. The mountain closes earlier than others in order to gear up for the annual World Championship Snowmobile Hill Climb, scheduled for this coming weekend. Professional snowmobilers come from around the country to test their skills against the steeps of Snow King and each other as they race straight up the slope in the hopes of making it to the top the fastest or at all. Some will crest the summit and others will tumble back down the mountain. Make sure to check out the craziness on Saturday or Sunday at Snow King.
