National Museum of Wildlife Art

Spring is a great time to check out the National Museum of Wildlife Art. Last week I spent some time there wandering through the different galleries and enjoying the beautiful views of the Elk Refuge. (There is even a large room that looks out over the refuge with a telescope to view wildlife). I would highly recommend this half-day activity to anyone who is interested in various types of art such as sculptures, painting, photography or even natural history. I particularly enjoyed the western theme as well as the architecture of the building itself.

The museum features 12 galleries with permanent and changing exhibits, library archive, a kids discovery gallery, café, and museum shop. There are also several informational videos, and tours are also offered daily and audio tours are free with admission.

The National Museum of Wildlife Art is just outside of the town of Jackson. It is appropriately located on a butte over looking the 20,000-acre Elk Refuge just 2 ½ miles north of Town Square.
